Who are we?

St. Paul's Lutheran Church is a member congregation of The Pacific Southwest District of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LC-MS), that believes in carrying out God's work in a broken and sinful world. This means that we follow the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19 by striving to carry the Gospel (Good News) message of Jesus Christ into a world that has rejected Him. Our Mission Statement reflects these words: Growing: Christ is Us and Us in the World. 

We are a multi-generational church that believes in raising Christians from the womb to the tomb. We aren't just pro-baby, we are pro-life, meaning that we respect and love all people from the moment of conception until they take their last breath. Our active ministries seek to respect life in all of its stages, whether that means advocating for the pre-born or ministering to those in palliative and hospice care. It is our duty, honor, and privilege as Christians to fulfill God's work passed down to us through the Holy Spirit as stated in Ephesians 2:10. 

Because we believe that how we worship directly influences what we believe (Lex orandi, lex credendi), we remain liturgical in practice, confessional in our beliefs, and Sacramental in our theology. We believe that the developed liturgy of the Early Church is a rich foundation for worshipping God, delivering His Word effectively, and offering His Sacraments (holy gifts) to those who have come to receive them. While styles of music may come and go, the Word of God endures forever (Isaiah 40:8, 1 Peter 1:25), and in that understanding liturgy carries forth that Word in a practical and reverent sense. 

This means that every worship service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church delivers Word and Sacrament to the children of God. It also means that the whole council of God, both His Law and His Gospel, are preached in their entirety and faithfully to the Holy Scriptures, and that His Holy Gifts, the Sacraments of Holy Baptism, Confession and Absolution, and the Lord's Supper are given explicitly for the forgiveness of sins and the salvation of His people, the Church. 

Our Mission is simple, we follow the Missio Dei, that is, the Misson of God to seek and saved the lost, as found in Luke 19:10. So who are we? We are an Assembly (Ekklesia) of Christians who have joined together to worship God reverently, receive His Word and Sacraments weekly, so that we may be taught, prepared, and sent out to seek and save the lost through the power of the Holy Spirit.
